Diocesan pilgrim groups and Transport Please note: Registrations now closed! The Diocese of Sale has 5 groups that it will be coordinating to assist young people attend World Youth Day 08 in Sydney. These groups are open to the general community from across Gippsland. The Diocese of Sale stretches from Narre Warren to Mallacoota, from Omeo to Wilsons Prom. All pilgrims from the Diocese of Sale are asked to register in one of these 5 groups via the official WYD08 site . Diocesan Pilgrim Transport Transport for the Main Diocesan Group 'Sale Gippsland' to attend WYD08 is via Bus. Bus Tickets cost $220 each return and $110 each one way. All pilgrims attending WYD08 in the pilgrim group 'Sale Gippsland' must fill out and send the transport ticket form to the Catholic Diocese of Sale. The postal address is on the form. Main pilgrim group Group name: Sale Gippsland Group number: 169 This is the main pilgrim group. It will depart on Monday July 14 and return Monday July 21. Cost: $615 per pilgrim Includes: WYD registration package A - $395 (Accommodation, transport in Sydney, meal tickets during WYD week, WYD events including Papal Vigil and Mass at Randwick Racecourse) Bus transport from Diocese to Sydney & back - $220 Family groups Group name: Gippsland Families WYD weeklong Group number: 4004 This group is for families wanting to make the WYD pilgrimage to Sydney. Families may choose to be part of the diocesan bus convoy, or make their own way to Sydney. ALL families will need to book their own accommodation in Sydney. Cost: Approx. $1350 per family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children over 8 y.o) driving themselves to Sydney Includes: WYD registration package B - $335 per family member 8+ years who registers (Transport in Sydney, meal tickets during WYD week, entry into WYD events including Papal Mass at Randwick Racecourse) OPTIONAL Bus transport from Diocese to Sydney & back - $220 per person Alternatively families may choose to make their own way to Sydney & back to attend the free WYD events such as the Papal arrival and Mass in Centennial Park. There is no registration cost for this option however the family would be responsible for all of their own meals, transport from the diocese to Sydney and back, transport in Sydney and accommodation. Group name: Gippsland families WYD weekend Group number: 4006 This group caters for families who wish to make the WYD pilgrimage to Sydney just for the final weekend.   Cost: approx $700 per family of 4 (2 Adults + 2 children 8 y.o) driving themselves to Sydney Includes: WYD registration package C - $175 per family member 8+ years who registers (Transport in Sydney, meal tickets during WYD final weekend, entry into WYD events including Papal Mass at Randwick Racecourse) Alternatively families may choose to make their own way to Sydney & back to attend the free WYD events such as the Papal Mass in Centennial Park. There is no registration cost for this option however the family would be responsible for all of their own meals, transport from the diocese to Sydney and back, transport in Sydney and accommodation. Solo pilgrim options   Group name: Gippsland Solo Week Group number: 4005 This option is for pilgrims who are 18+ and who have organised their own accommodation in Sydney. They may choose to join the diocesan bus convoy with the main pilgrim group or drive themselves to Sydney. Cost: $555 per person Includes: WYD registration package B - $335 (Transport in Sydney, meal tickets for the WYD week, entry to WYD events including Papal vigil & Mass at Randwick Racecourse Bus transport from Diocese to Sydney & back - $220   Group name: Gippsland Solo weekenders Group number: 4007 This option is for pilgrims 18+ who wish to attend WYD in Sydney for the final weekend. Buses will be departing from Melbourne for those who require transport on Friday 19 July. Cost: $395 Includes: WYD registration package C - $175 (Transport in Sydney, meal tickets for weekend, entry to WYD events including Papal vigil & Mass at Randwick Racecourse Bus transport from Diocese to Sydney & back - $220 per person   Members of all of these groups are expected to attend the WYD pilgrim sessions conducted in their region during the lead up to July 2008. Some secondary schools are coordinating their own WYD groups. Secondary school students wishing to go with their school are encouraged to contact their school WYD coordinator before registering.
