The dioceses of Australia and New Zealand have been invited to host groups of international visitors in the days preceding the WYD08 week. The cultural exchange in the context of faith is called Days in the Dioceses. This will assist the youth of the world in their pastoral preparation en-route to Sydney as well as help renew the Church in the places they visit, while receiving local hospitality.
Our Days in the Diocese program will begin 8 July 2008 and conclude 11 July 2008. From 8 July to 10 July parishes across the diocese will be hosting various Days in the Diocese events, and on 11 July local and international pilgrims will be invited to St Mary's Cathedral in Sale for a Pilgrim Commissioning Mass, followed by a Pilgrim Carnival to send everyone off to Sydney in style. Pilgrim Carnival
All WYD08 pilgrims are invited to join us at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sale for a special commissioning Mass to be celebrated by our Diocesan Administrator and fellow WYD08 pilgrim, Fr. Peter Slater. Following the pilgrim commissioning we will make our way to the Pilgrim Carnival for a suitably festive send-off with all the bells and whistles.
