Diocesan Youth Ministry Office
In the wake of World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08) young people from around Gippsland have been gathering formally and informally to rejoice in and explore their role in the life of Christ. To accompany young people on this ongoing pilgrimage the Catholic Diocese of Sale is pleased to establish the Diocesan Youth Ministry Office.
Building and consolidating on the foundations created through the efforts of the WYD08 team, the role of the Diocesan Youth Ministry Office is to support and sustain the development of youth ministry in the diocese. The Youth Ministry Office will operate within the context of our pastoral plan "Journeying Together" utilising the comprehensive youth ministry framework.
The Diocesan Youth Ministry Office team consists of Jess Denehy, Youth Ministry Coordinator, and Kelly Lucas, Youth Minister (Colleges and Young Teachers). Jess and Kelly are both excited to be part of the team and are looking forward to helping parishes, schools and regions energise their youth ministry culture.
Some of the initiatives planned for 2009 include diocesan youth gatherings beginning with Palm Sunday 2009, the introduction of the Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Australia (CSYMA) program into our secondary colleges, training opportunities for youth leaders, WYD-style catechesis and a youth retreat. If you have any questions, or would like Kelly or Jess to assist your parish, school or region please do not hesitate to contact the office.
