Bishop's Family Foundation

AN IDEA FOR THE FUTURE

swanThe Bishop's Family Foundation was launched in June 1999 with the aim of raising a substantial capital base to be used in helping fund programs assisting families in the Greater Gippsland area which the Diocese of Sale covers.

The foundation now has more than $2 million invested from donated funds. All costs of operating the foundation are carried by the diocese and so every cent donated is still held in trust, earning income year after year for the foundation's good works.

Projects totalling $676,625 have been funded by the trustees. These monies include special payments of $15,000 to aid families affected by the disastrous 2003 East Gippsland bushfires,  $10,000 to aid victims of the 2005 Asian tsunami and $10,000 to Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund for victims of the 2009 "Black Saturday" bushfires which severely affected communities in our diocese.

While most of the funds raised have come from within the Catholic community, proceeds are distributed on a non-denominational needs basis across the whole community.

Applications for the annual round of funding closes at the end of August each year and successful applicants are announced in October or November.
